Chemical Peel Aftercare
Chemical Peel Contraindications:
(If any of these pertain to you, we cannot perform any chemical peel treatments.)

Use of Accutane in the past 6 to 12 months

Use of prescription Keratolytic or other active exfoliating products such as Retin-A, Renova, Azelaic Acid, Tazorac, Differin, ect... in the past 7 days.

Have taken an oral acne medication, ISOtretinoin (Myorisan, Claravis, others), in the past six months.

Known allergies or sensitivities to products or ingredients-Allergy to Aspirin

Currently being treated for an autoimmune disease (must consult treating physician)-Infectious diseases

Pregnancy or breastfeeding
-
Visibly red or irritated skin
-
Sunburned or recently tanned skin
-
Open sores or wounds
-
Any recent cosmetic surgery (must consult treating physician)

Poor wound healing or known predisposition to keloid formation Chemical Peel After-Care:
-
Avoid sun exposure at least 7 days before treatment, including tanning beds. Sunburned skin cannot be treated.

Do not bleach, wax, tweeze or use depilatory creams in the treatment area for 3 days prior to treatment.

Discontinue use of retinoid (Retin A, tretinoin, Tazorac, Differin, Hydroquinone etc.) products one week prior to treatment.

Discontinue use of 10% or higher Alpha Hydroxyl Acids, Glycolic Acids, and do not exfoliant 3 days prior to peel. Discontinue any exfoliating scrubs

If you have a history of perioral herpes, advise the office so you may begin prophylactic antiviral therapy the day before treatment.

Schedule a time when minor swelling or peeling will not disrupt your social obligations.

The day of the appointment, omit lotions, creams, makeup or deodorant in the area to be treated.

Chemical Peel After-Care:
NOTE THAT EVERYONE'S SKIN IS DIFFERENT. RESULTS, AS WELL AS POST-TREATMENT RECOVERY PERIODS WILL VARY.

Redness might be present (and last up to several hours) after the peel.

We recommend adding a hydro-jelly mask during your treatment to help soothe and calm the skin faster.

Use ONLY Tylenol, as needed for any soreness. You may use a cool compress after 4 hours if there is excessive discomfort, burning, redness, or swelling.

Treat the skin gently by washing, no earlier than 8 hours after the peel, with a gentle cleanser, cool water, using only clean hands, and pat it dry. Apply moisturizer as directed by your esthetician.

Peeling will start 3–5 days after the treatment. KEEP Moisturized - DO NOT pick or scratch at the treated skin. (Eating fresh pineapple optimizes healing.)

Avoid applying makeup 48–72 hours after treatment.

Avoid strenuous exercise or sweating for 48 hours.
-
Do not bleach, wax, tweeze or use depilatory creams in the treatment area for 1 week after treatment.

Do not start using 10% or higher Alpha Hydroxyl Acids, Glycolic Acids, exfoliating scrubs and retinoid (Retin A, tretinoin, Tazorac, Differin, Hydroquinone, etc.) products until one week later or until sensitivity is gone after your treatment.

Avoid sun exposure for one week post peel and use a minimum of SPF 30 daily and every 2 hours if outdoors. A broad-spectrum sunscreen is recommended.

A post-treatment kit is mandatory following every peel treatment for the best healing results.
